Quotation1931 Nov 6th Carmarthen Journal wrote "Greatest flood in living knowledge” "river overflowed its banks right along the valley to an unprecedented degree". Water was almost to station platform level...10 to 12 feet in Pensarn and Llangunnor...12 houses in Ffairfach flooded...main road at Llandeilo bridge was impassable as was road at halfway Inn. Flood rose to girders on the new rail bridge on Aberystwyth branch line and to arch tops on town bridge. Trains could not continue for several hours for the first time in 36 years. Water entered the offices in old station yard and spread to the tin works [now Jewson]- a thing which has never been known before. Abergwili high street flooded - first time on record. Dryslwyn Bridge washed away. Railway at Llanarthney was covered - exceeding 1894 level by 6 inches. SUMMARY FROM
